This year we introduced Connected Geography in Key Stage 1 and 2. This programme engages and motivates pupils and encourages them to see the world through the eyes of young geographers. The content and approach to learning in this programme seeks to identify the most important and meaningful aspects of geography which is explored in depth.
At Key Stage 1 many of the enquiries are more tightly defined as ‘Who’, ‘What’, ‘Where’ and ‘When’ questions but a Key Stage 2 a more open ended approach with an emphasis on ‘Why’ and ‘How’ questions
Each inquiry includes detailed subject content knowledge as well as learning inside and outside of the classroom to achieve the best outcomes. A wealth of resources including satellite imagery, newspapers, photographs, GIS data sets, maps and plans of different scales allows children to explore each enquiry in depth.
