Lest We Forget

This week we have been thinking about the poppy and it's significance to Remembrance Sunday.  We discussed how this year's Armistice Day was particularly important as it marked 100 years since the end of the First World War.  In class, the children have been painting and drawing their own poppy pictures.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
