At St. Matthew’s our History Curriculum makes meaningful connections with the present day and the area that we live in. We are incredibly fortunate within our local area as it is rich with historical buildings, stories of famous people in the past from Hampton Court Palace, the Thames on our door step to all that London has to offer.   We have also had the privilege of visiting and immersing ourselves at Butser Ancient Farm which is a unique experimental archaeology site nestled into the rolling countryside of the South Downs National Park. Children are encouraged to develop transferable skills they can use across the curriculum and in later life, such as asking perceptive questions and thinking critically.
